Our P6 pupils enjoyed an Activity Day with their counterparts from Royal Mile Primary School last week. This followed on from a similar event with our P5 year group.
Pupils spent the morning at Holyrood Park taking part in outdoor games and woodland den building. They then spent the afternoon at the Crags Sports Centre participating in football, dance, basketball and climbing.
Many thanks to Blaze basketball club and the Crags Sports Centre for helping to facilitate this fantastic event. We’re also very grateful to the staff from both schools for their help throughout the day, and also to our parent helper Jude Tindale for helping to accompany pupils.
The activity days were the latest in a series of events throughout the year which have brought together P5 and P6 pupils from Preston Street and Royal Mile. With the two schools both sending most of their pupils on to James Gillespie’s High School, it is helpful for pupils to get to know their future high school classmates in advance. Even those pupils who move on to different high schools will still benefit from having the opportunity to meet and work with new people. Our current P6s will continue this programme into P7.
Here are some pictures from various parts of the day:
