First all of apologies for not uploading a blog last week, but events overtook us and we were swamped with other things. Hopefully normal service will resume next week.

We have spent much of the last fortnight focusing on our WW1 topic and as you can see from the photos above, we have created some fabulous realistic models of the trenches in our co-operative groups. We also all came together to create our poppy memorial for Remembrance Day. This was especially apt this week as we were exploring the connections between ourselves in our health and wellbeing lesson – hence the string spider web above!

In maths, we are bringing together all our hard work on decimals and place value next week by planning and budgeting for a holiday trip. This week we used our knowledge to create some board games involving the use of decimal numbers.

In literacy, we have been working on War Horse (our class novel), responding to the text as we listen to it. We have also researched the lives of some of the more renowned war poets and we analysed the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae. The learners approached this with enthusiasm, respect and maturity which bodes well for their transition to High School.

The photos above also reflect us enjoying our dance lesson with MIss Izzard as we prepare for the forthcoming Christmas concert. This concert will also feature us playing our guitars as a group – definitely something to look forward to.

Keep safe.
