Pupils from Preston Street PS and Tollcross PS participated in girls’ and boys’ basketball festivals which were held at James Gillespie’s High School in October 2022. These provided pupils with the opportunity to play fun games of basketball and develop their skills, with support from Boroughmuir Blaze coaches and Active Schools staff.

The festivals were also a great transition opportunity, as most of the participants will be moving on to James Gillespie’s together in 2023 or 2024. Having the chance to get to know their future S1 classmates in a fun and informal setting, and explore their new high school building, is of great benefit to young people as they prepare for the transition to JGHS.

Thanks to staff from both schools, Blaze and Active Schools for putting these events together. We look forward to similar events later in the year.
