Enjoy the next Episode of our P7B podcast.
It’s end of another half term in P7B and it has been a busy one! It was a great end of term and our WW1 and WW2 topics to watch War Horse as a year group- it really felt like we were at the cinema!
We have been focusing on the lives of evacuees during WW2 and P7 have really enjoyed creating their own WW2 child who has gone through the experience of evacuation. We have discussed and researched what they would take with them, how their lives might be different in the countryside and how propaganda was used to persuade parents and host families. We have also been writing diary entries as our WW2 children to get an insight into their experiences and emotions. It has been great to create our own diaries!
All of Primary 7 were excellent representatives of the school at Edinburgh’s Holocaust Memorial Day at the City Chambers. We were inspired by the speakers and took many of their messages to heart. We were very proud of our four presenters who spoke so eloquently about our Artwork about perpetrators, bystanders, rescuers and victims of the Holocaust.
We have been focusing on building our stamina in PE by completing and designing exercise circuits. A huge congratulations to all of those who attended the Athletics Competition and represented the school- we were very proud! Those of us who remained created some fantastic Blitz inspired artwork and enjoyed a nature walk.
P7 really got into preparing for the school’s Scots Assembly with half putting on a brilliant gameshow all about Scotland while the other half created Scots Landmark Minecraft Art- the school were very impressed!
We have been looking at the school’s programme, Building Resilience, and discussing and celebrating what makes us unique. We made adverts to be us for a day and were shocked at how much we each do every day! We took character strengths surveys and were pleasantly surprised by the results! We used these to create positive affirmation matchboxes.
Enjoy your half term- you all definitely deserve it!
