We have been enjoying learning about pharaohs and pyramids as part of our Ancient Egypt topic. We painted pharaoh masks and built pyramids. Some of us used Lego to build a free-standing pyramid, others used lollypop sticks and/or paper. Some of us worked on our own, others worked in pairs or small groups.

We have enjoyed some whole class numeracy tasks, working with a partner to order numbers, find numbers which are more or less than a given number. We have also been working in our numeracy groups to develop our number learning during teacher led group activities.

Last week we were learning about bonfire night and why people celebrate it each year, learning about Guy Fawkes and the history of bonfire night. We also learned about how to stay safe around fireworks. We enjoyed some art activities and listened carefully to instructions during a listen and draw activity.

We have been learning the names for some animals in Spanish. We have been learning the Spanish words for some pet animals including, cat, dog, hamster, mouse, rabbit, bird, fish, snake & horse. We learned the vocabulary and then reinforced it through both whole class games and group games.

This week we have been learning how our behaviour impacts on the people around us during our RSHP lesson.

On Wednesday, we completed a listening and talking activity during literacy time. We watched a silent video about a lighthouse, then we had to answer some comprehension questions about it, we answered the questions on our own first of all, then worked in groups of 3 to share and compare our answers.

We enjoyed an outdoor learning session in the playground this week as it was too wet and slippery to visit Holyrood Park, we enjoyed playing in the playground imaginatively or playing chasing games. We also enjoyed playing with the dart board, a few people decided to keep track of the number of points each team had by adding them up as the game went on to see which team was the winner.
