Literacy

We have been reinforcing and revising the block 2 sounds and tricky words, we will revise these again next week before then completing the end of block assessments in class.

Numeracy

We have been ordering numbers, counting forwards and backwards and learning number bonds (2 numbers which add together to make a number e.g. 5+4 6+3 for 9). We have also been making equal shares and building arrays.

Next week we will be starting a block of Time. We will start by learning the days of the week, months of the year and the seasons before moving onto analogue and digital clock displays for o’clock.

HWB

This week we have been learning about ‘pregnancy and how to look after baby’ and ‘families’ as part of our RSHP learning.

Topic

We have been continuing our Farm topic. We did some animal themed drama, we had to pretend to move like a farm animal, we did it both with and without the animal noises to see if others could guess which animal we were pretending to be. We were learning about the different things which we get from animals, including milk, meat and wool. We have also been learning the bread making process and about different farm animals and where they live. We made a farm animal using a paper plate and our creativity with Miss Fleming.

Holyrood Park

Last week we made nettle pesto during our visit to Holyrood Park. We used wild nettles, olive oil, vegan cheese and some salt and pepper. We used a mortar and pestle to grind the nettles and mix the ingredients together, then we spread the pesto onto an oatcake to try, most of us tried some and most of us enjoyed it!

We visited Holyrood Park on Tuesday with Miss Ritty. We enjoyed looking for minibeasts in different parts of the forest, foraging for plants, climbing trees and playing chasing games. We had a lovely time with Miss Ritty.

Play

We have enjoyed dressing up to be different characters with the different materials and resources in the dressing up suitcase. We have been creating our own superhero costumes and jewellery using materials from the art trolley. We have enjoyed some baby and family themed role play using the dolls and prams. Some of us created a catapult in the classroom, using elastic and 2 chairs. We have also enjoyed playing various games including Sumdog on the Ipads and making circuits with the electricity game.
