Hello 6s!  I hope you had a lovely weekend.

How many of you have noticed the picture that is always in the background of my videos? It’s a poster of Scottish Lighthouses. I LOVE Scottish lighthouses for several reasons.

  1. They are in beautiful locations.
  2. They help keep ships safe.
  3. It took amazing perseverance and dedication to build the lighthouses in Scotland.  Some are built in places where the waters are so rough, giant waves swept away the lighthouse before they finished it, and they had to start over.
  4. They were almost all built by 4 generations of the same family – the Stevensons.
  5. Robert Louis Stevenson, the famous author, is a member of that family and helped build one of the lighthouses.
  6. There are some unsolved mysteries involving a couple of the lighthouses.
  7. They have withstood, water, wind, sabotage, and even time.  Some of the lighthouses are now over 200 years old!

A lot of my traveling in Scotland has been to see a lighthouse.  Here are several of the ones I’ve seen.  I’ve only seen 33 of them.  Since there are 206, I have a lot left to visit!

So, because I love lighthouses and because 2020 is the Year of Coasts and Waters in Scotland, this week will have a nautical theme.
