Our P5 year group participated in outdoor activities at Holyrood Park this morning with their counterparts from Royal Mile Primary School.
Pupils from the two schools worked together on various outdoor games and activities in one of the park’s many woodland areas.
This formed the latest part of our ‘extended transition’ programme which sees young people from Preston Street and Royal Mile join together on a regular basis throughout P5, P6 and P7, in order to help prepare for the transition to high school. The majority of pupils from both schools will go on to attend James Gillespie’s High School, and the programme allows them to get to know some of their future classmates; however, even for those children who will go on to other high schools, the programme is hugely beneficial in terms of building their confidence in interacting with others.
Here are some pictures from today’s event. We look forward to participating in hillwalking, sports and various other activities as we move towards the summer term.
