Our P7 year group enjoyed a visit to Bonaly Country Park to participate in orienteering activities today, using the permanent orienteering course which can be found there.

Building on previous orienteering activities which they had donepreviously during P6 and P7, pupils used their map reading skills to navigate their way around a series of control points. A variety of skills were needed to complete the task successfully including teamwork, problem solving and fitness.

Well done to the pupils who not only completed their orienteering activities, but also walked around a 6k round trip from Hunter’s Tryst (where they got off the bus) to Bonaly and back again. A busy but rewarding day!

Many thanks to our parent helper, Elspeth Bleakley, who came along to share her expertise and assist pupils throughout the activities. Thanks also to Mr Anderson, Ms Craig, Mr Durkin and Mr MacLean for leading the excursion.

P7 pupils will participate in another orienteering excursion in two weeks’ time at the Hermitage of Braid. There will also be the opportunity for all P7 pupils who wish to do so, to participate in the Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Championships which take place at Scone Palace on Wednesday 2nd June. Information about this event has been sent out to all P7 parents. If your child enjoyed today’s trip, we strongly encourage them to take part in the Championships, which promise to be a great experience for all participants.
