Good morning P7b hope you all had a good April Fool’s day?

How is the story writing going so far?

I have decided not to give a deadline on this task just yet as I feel that as authors you need time to process and edit your writing.

As I’m sure you are aware every author goes through periods of wonderful ideas flowing onto the paper and the odd times of blank minds, so it is important to take breaks from your writing. Go back to it when feeling refreshed, reread over what you have done and make any edits.

Continue to use your story mountain and more in depth planning as a way of keeping you focused on the plot and the flow of your story.

Today’s literacy learning:

  • Continue writing your story
  • Read for at least thirty minutes – Please complete a review of any books you have finished and email them to me. I am nearly finished reading Starfell and will post a review once I am done.
  • Continue to practice common word spelling.
  • Vote on what I should read next, see picture below for choices:

My books

Remember I am happy to look over your work and give feedback so if you can, submit work to me by sending an email to:

admin@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk

If you are using a computer then using word makes it easier for me to open, annotate and give feedback. If writing it then a clear photo of the text is needed. Thank you😊

Remember these are suggestions just do as much as you are able and enjoy spending time with your family and if safe go outside.

From Mr Parkin

Good morning P7!

I hope you did not fall for my (or any other) April Fool’s yesterday – if so I think there would be some very tired hands today!

Today for your maths learning you have 3 fabulous options…

  • Continue / Start a famous or historical maths poster – Some of you have started, some have finished – if you wish to see the list of some famous mathematicians check back to yesterdays post – or google ‘Famous Mathematicians’ to find your own.

All the best!

Mr Parkin 🙂

From Mr Anderson

Good morning P7B. So, did you spot my April Fool’s task yesterday? I hope nobody fell for it. “Now that you’ve made your tasty torrijas, please translate the full website into Spanish.” If you did manage to handwrite it all, then I’ll happily give you a tangible reward. However, I will require photo evidence for this to happen. 😉

I believe Caleb and Miriam played an April’s Fool joke in the P7 WhatsApp chat. Was it Lewis or Harris you were moving to? I hear the Calanais standing stones are a lovely place to call home. The Calanais Standing Stones are an extraordinary cross-shaped setting of stones erected 5,000 years ago. They predate England’s famous Stonehenge monument by 500 years, and were an important place for ritual activity for at least 2,000 years. We don’t know why the standing stones at Calanais were erected, but our best guess is that it was a kind of astronomical observatory.

Mandarin / Autism Awareness

Today I have set you two tasks on behalf of Mrs. McGaffin and Mrs Tai.

Mrs. McGaffin has kindly asked me if you could help her out with her Autism Awareness Task today. This can be found in a separate link in your class blogs.

Mrs. Tai has set you a challenge which is to be completed over the Easter Holidays so there is no rush to complete the sheet below. Good luck.

British Council Mandarin Challenge

Please remember if you have any work you would like me to look over or if you would like us to post a photo (PDFs don’t work, sorry), then send it into us by the following means. I would love to see photos of your torrijas at some point.

  1. Via an email to admin@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk.
