Good Morning P7b what a lovely day it was yesterday, so nice to see the sun shining. The animals in Gorgie Farm must have been having a great time they were making so much noise I ended up closing my window!!

A big thank you to everyone that has been leaving comments or sending pictures of their work, I really love seeing everything you have been doing so please keep sharing, remember you can do this two ways:

  1. By sending an email to admin@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk
  2. Or by leaving a comment on the class blog.

Below are some of the rainbows I have been sent so far:

I would also like to see any written work you’ve been doing.

Literacy for today:

Today is a continuation day as I gave you quite a lot yesterday and I also want to give everyone the chance to complete all tasks.

Continue to read for at least thirty minutes a day. Write a summary of the book if you have finished it and send me a picture of it. It would be really good to get some book recommendations and reviews up on the blog.

Continue to work on your spelling practice of common words, try and find some creative ways of doing this. You could use the ones you have chosen in your summary?

Finally for today continue to work on the reading comprehension literacy challenge you chose.

From Mr Anderson

Good morning P7B. I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine yesterday. It certainly seems like March is living up to its idiom; in like a lion, out like a lamb.

In like a lion, out like a lamb

I hope you enjoyed learning about hurricanes yesterday. I think Noah did as he sent on this fabulous link on how much hurricanes weigh. Depending on size, they weight about 108.8 billion lbs or 360, 000 blue whales. Incredible. Have a look for yourselves on the link below.

Please feel free to submit any work you are proud of in two ways (and because I would love to hear from you):

  1. Via an email to admin@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk.
  2. Leave a brief comment on the class blog below.

Next week is the start of your Easter Holidays and therefore we will focus on Holy Week. Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter and is celebrated by Christians throughout the world. Both Protestants and Catholics observe these holy days in preparation for the celebration of Easter Sunday. Holy Week is marked by remembering the life and death of Jesus Christ.

Please watch the following clip and answer the following questions. You may need to do some further research. When you are finished, research the iconic artwork, Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci and try to recreate your own.

From Ms Craig

Tuesday 31st of March

Good Morning 7s!

It’s the last day of March! And, since Mr Parkin and Mr Anderson are known for their jokes, I’d be very wary of tomorrow’s blog posts. Do you know when April Fools day officially started? Was it

1492                       1582                       1812                       1922

  • Home Learning Packet – as usual

o   The math packet as well as all of books 2a and 2b are full of review problems. You can always choose a page that looks fun.

o   https://prestonstreetprimary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/teejay-2a-textbook.pdf

  • Poster Alert! – you can start or keep working on this one

o   If you are looking for a longer project – one that might take all week, you can try this one.  Pythagoras wasn’t the only “really old dude” that was exceptional at maths.  If your curious, find another mathematician and learn about their contributions to mathematics.  There are “old dudettes” like Hypatia. And, there are modern mathematicians as well. The movie Hidden Figures is about how female mathematicians changed NASA. Create a poster explaining what you found. If you don’t mind your poster going up on the blog, you can email it to us admin@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk

  • Math Puzzles – try a new math puzzle today

o   I love math puzzles. When I have extra time, I enjoy completing a Sudoku. Pick one of your favourite math puzzles and finish one.

o   Or, if you don’t have a favourite math puzzle, you can try this one. In fact, there are a LOT of fun math puzzles on this site: https://www.mathsisfun.com/puzzles/a-weighty-problem.html

o   And here is a site for Sudoku: http://www.websudoku.com/
