We enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day on Friday, as the whole school descended on the Meadows for this eagerly-awaited annual event.
Pupils participated in a series of team relay races, competing for points for their team and their house, followed by the traditional class races. As always, Sports Day finished with our annual House Relay, which was as noisy and exciting as ever!

Josh (P7) crosses the line to win the House Relay for Clerk.
Well done in particular to our P7 pupils, who were competing in their last ever Sports Day. We hope this annual event has been one of the many highlights of your time at Preston Street.
We were delighted to see such a large number of parents and families at the Meadows to support their children – thanks to everyone who came and helped add to the atmosphere in this way.

The team relay races in full swing!
In particular, we are very grateful to all the volunteers who came to help accompany teams around the Meadows, and act as judges / scorekeepers. As well as a great number of parent volunteers, we were also extremely fortunate to welcome a team from Scottish Widows / Lloyds Banking, who gave up their time to come along and help out. We have developed a close relationship with Scottish Widows in recent years and it is great to have such strong community involvement from one of our major local employers. Many thanks to Danielle, Jordan, Scott, Erin, Chelsea, Izwan and Davinderpal for their help – we hope you enjoyed the experience!

When the dust had settled, the final results were:
Winners – Oxford 1771 points
2nd – Clerk 1754 points
3rd – Lutton 1719 points
4th – Newington 1600 points

Josh and Molly receive the House Relay trophy on behalf of the Clerk team.
Congratulations to Oxford who are Sports Day champions for the first time in five years, adding to the Cross Country shield which they won earlier in the session.
Well done, also, to Clerk, who won a very competitive House Relay – and to all the pupils who won individual prizes in the various class and year group races.
Certificates will be handed out at next week’s Achievement Assemblies to the various individual and team winners.
Well done to everyone who contributed to another great Sports Day!
Here are some pictures from the event – thanks to Ms Morrison for her excellent photography.
