This term will be a busy one for transition to S1. We have already started some activities, and we have a visit to JGHS coming up later this month. Along with preparing for transition, we have also been entering our final units of each subject. Here about some of these things in our latest podcast episode.
In PE, we have been reviewing rugby skills in the hopes of having a small rugby tournament since it was rained out in Term 3.
We have also been studying various artists, and copying their techniques. The latest artist to be studies is Andy Warhol. We looked at and discussed his artwork, then painted pictures of the queen in the style of Andy Warhol and learned about the upcoming Jubilee.
This term saw the introduction of the 1:1 iPads from the council. Students got to set up their own iPads and choose from a variety of educational software to download.
The children also had the opportunity to take the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Junior Maths Challenge. This challenge is for P6 to S1 and includes some very challenging maths. Students had the choice of whether or not to give it a try. The challenge is taken in an exam-like environment. Students did a fabulous job and should be proud of volunteering for the opportunity.
