At Preston Street we like to learn about how we are all unique and all have different strengths, talents, interests and support needs.

Today is World Autism Awareness Day and this week (March 30th-5th April) is Autism Awareness week.
We would usually share some of the videos and information below at an assembly. Why not choose some to look at and have a ‘home assembly’?

Amazing Things Can Happen: A lovely animated video aiming to raise awareness about Autism among a non-autistic audience. (Accessible for all ages, but younger children will need some support and discussion to understand some things)
Newsround: A Newsround article with a few integrated videos. One of these videos (My Autism and me) won a Royal Television Society award for Best Children’s programme.
(Perhaps most suited to P3 and up, but younger children may access with supportive 0discussion)
We are amazing 123 A simple Sesame Street story about Elmo and two friends (one of whom has Autism) playing together . (Perhaps most suited to P1/ P2. But Mrs McGaffin enjoyed it too!)
What is autism: An introduction to Autism -reading (An ‘easy read’ version but some children may need help reading a few of the longer words)
